The part about worker processes is very misleading.

You can worker environments in Elastic Beanstalk, they behave as you expect worker environments to behave and they scale horizontally quite efficiently. I even wrote a lib for django to simplify worker interaction - https://github.com/DataGreed/django-eb-sqs-worker
